Drivin From Liberia

The best route from Liberia airport is through Nicoya, Jiccaral, Paquera, Tambor, Cobano, and Santa Teresa.
The GPS sometimes suggests shortcuts, do not follow them and stay on the paved road. It takes around 4 hours. Here is the recommended route on Google Maps

Shuttle/Taxi

You can arrange to have a shuttle with Tropical Tours or taxi pick you up at the airport or hotel and take you directly to Santa Teresa. Shared ($50 pp.) and private shuttles are available.

Domestic Flight

Sansa Regional and Greenairways has daily flights from San Jose to Cobano The flights take about 30 minutes, and from there, a 15-minute drive brings you to Santa Teresa. ($100 pp)

Rental Car

Alamo and Budget, have offices in Santa Teresa/Malpais. This is useful if you’d like a one-way rental. From the airport to Santa Teresa it takes around 5 hours. ($50 and up per day)

A direct bus leaves twice a day from Downtown San Jose and brings you to Mal Pais/Santa Teresa.
